The Top (x) Albums of 2008

I mostly spent 2008 catching up on music I had previously missed from years past. As with film, I'm not sure if I could even put a top five list of albums together for 2008.

However, Nick Cave's Dig Lazarus Dig got some very heavy rotation on my iPod. Off the top of my head, that's my personal album of the year.

The only things I purchased that I really felt were the new Nick Cave album and the Die Warzau release. I think I'm getting old.

Perhaps a step in a different direction but, my two selections of the year are:

Detektivbyrån - Wermland
Andrew Bird - Armchair Apocrypha

And just for Meg, Yes, I loved The Slip, and Lights was the tour of 2008, but the two albums listed above are worth checking out, especially if you look at it and have no clue wtf I'm talking about.

I haven't had a chance to listen to The Slip. I downloaded it, but the PC I had it on crashed. Now, I'm just too lazy to sign up to DL it with a different email address. Blah.

I liked three albums this year:

The Flashbulb - Soundtrack to a Vacant Life
Why? - Alopecia
Girl Talk - Feed the Animals

Are you fucking kidding me Fin, the Slip? Seriously?

I think the only reason you still listen to NIN is to torment me! Besides, just so everyone knows...Fin's top albums don't count. I revoked his music priveleges long long ago...when he purchased Metallica's St. Anger, and tried to defend it by insisting it was a good album.

I will agree that the Nick Cave album was fantastic.

"Discipline" from The Slip was awesome. Otherwise, I'm, not so sure. There's other tracks on that that I can listen to and even enjoy, but that's the only track I really like.

Ladytron- Velocifero
Autechre- Quaristice
David Byrne & Brian Eno- Everything That Happens Will Happen Today
Goldfrapp- Seventh Tree

I saw three concerts total last year: ohGr, Ladytron, and Atomica, and I'd say that all three shows were great, each for completely different reasons.

Have you listened to either of my top albums Meg? I'm sorry I don't get in line with the Lazy Eye or appreciate sappy chick rock the same way you do... But my selections for the year are quality music, not noise for the sake of noise that I usually listen to... Give them a shot, you may be suprised what you discover.

And yes, the Slip. Of course the Slip.

Alright now, there is no reason to bring Thom Yorke into this, or my love for the lazy eye.

While were on the subject of music, oghr latest compilation of sounds was unique. as usual. i always though mark walk did some very great production with ruby so this was some great sounds to my ears. let's see what else... displacer had some cool beats but so did hannah montana. i just miss all that other industrial shit that used to be. lol. oh well... my two cents, for what it's worth.
